Ministries

Children’s Ministries

  • Nursery – trained volunteers staff our comfortable nursery, available during 8:45 and 11:00 am services.
  • Children’s Time, 8:45 am – Children are welcome in all our worship services.  There’s a special time up front for children during our 8:45 service every Sunday.
  • Sunday School, 10:00 am – Cooking!  Movies!  Stories!  Crafts!  Our rotational Sunday school offers a different opportunity for learning each week!
  • Weekly – Our Children’s choir is more than just singing – it’s a time of fellowship and fun, too.  Children sing in church throughout the school year.

 

Mid-High and High School Ministries

  • Sunday School, 10:00 am – We have excellent, active Sunday school classes for our youth.  The Mid-High youth and Sr. High classes meet separately at 10:00 am.
  • Youth Group – Adult volunteers work with youth to put together regular fellowship events, trips, mission events, conference activities and worship opportunities.

 

Family Ministries

  • Monthly potlucks, game nights, and movie nights are great opportunities for families to gather together!
  • Special events like Vacation Bible School and the annual Christmas program are great opportunities for families to do ministry together.

 

Young Adult Ministries

  • Sunday School, 10:00 am – Our “Strength” class, taught by Pastor Mitch, has young adults ranging from 19-30.  We talk about all kinds of stuff.
  • ROOTS, Wed. 7:30 pm/8:00 pm – ROOTS is a combined service led by students from Campus Ministry at Washburn and young adults from UUMC.  During the school year come-and-go communion happens at 7:30 pm and the service happens at 8:00 pm.  Dessert afterwards!

 

Adult Ministries

  • Sunday School, 10:00 am
    Spirit Builders: Bible/Topic
    U B There: Bible Study
    New Beginnings: Topics
  • The Bible Class, 10:00 am – For more than 30 years, UUMC has offered a special class for disabled adults.
  • UMW – Two large circles meet regularly.  This is a large and active chapter of United Methodist Women.
  • UMM – Twice a month during the school year, the men of the church gather for fellowship, small group discussions, and more.
  • Seniors – Our seniors gather monthly for fun and games.  UUMC is also a sponsoring organization for the Shepherd Center in Topeka.

 

Mission Ministries

  • Mission Trips – Local, regional, even international trips.
  • The Giving Tree – Short-term mission projects helping church and community members in need.
  • Local Agencies – We support Doorstep, Fellowship in Faith, and other local agencies.
